About Us

The University of Central Arkansas Police Department is an effective, skilled, and progressive organization made up of men and women who are dedicated to their profession and to the mission and values of the University. We are dedicated and committed to improving the quality of life in our community through a spirit of service and the highest standards of personal and professional integrity.

Reporting to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ Chief of Staff, the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ Police Department, comprised of 23 full-time sworn police officers, 10 full-time support staff, and several part time staff, provides around-the-clock law enforcement, public safety, emergency management, and 9-1-1 services to the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ community. Through a strong philosophy of community oriented policing and solid relationships throughout the campus we focus on protection of persons and property, preservation of the peace, enforcement of state and local laws and university regulations, prevention and repression of criminal activity, emergency preparedness planning, and management and control of parking and traffic on the campus.

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ police officers are vested with full police and investigative authority pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated Section 25-17-305 and are certified by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training. We undergo extensive specialized training to better understand the safety and security needs of students, staff, faculty, and visitors within a richly diverse academic community. The department’s primary operating jurisdiction includes all Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ owned, leased, or controlled properties and adjoining streets and highways. In addition, under Arkansas state law, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ police officers have full law enforcement authority anywhere in the State of Arkansas while conducting official business. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ PD also maintains mutual aid agreements with all local law enforcement agencies in Faulkner County and will respond to requests for assistance.

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏÂÛ̳ Police Department is located on campus between State Hall and Hughes Hall. The lobby and emergency communications center are staffed 24 hours a day. Persons needing EMERGENCY assistance at any time should call 9-1-1. General assistance can be obtained by calling (501) 450-3111. Additionally, assistance may be summoned via several blue light emergency phones located throughout the campus or from emergency phones inside elevators.
