Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR) (Chapter 1606)

The Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve benefit is for current service members of any of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces in the reserve component, members of the Army National Guard or Air National Guard. Specific eligibility requirements are as follows:

  • You have a six-year service obligation in the Selected Reserve
  • You have completed your initial active duty for training (IADT)
  • You have earned a high school diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma or GED
  • You are in good standing with your unit

The MGIB-SR includes a monthly stipend.

Once you have completed the application process, the VA will mail you a letter called a Certificate of Eligibility to the address you provided on your application. This can take up to 30 days.

Our office will require three documents in order to certify your enrollment and begin your payment process with the VA:

  1. Enrollment Certification Form, /veteranservices/certification/. *
  2. Concise Student Schedule*
  3. Certificate of Eligibility

*These forms must be turned in every semester in order to be certified. The Certificate of Eligibility must only be submitted once.

Service members eligible for the the MGIB-SR are also eligible for the following benefits:

  • National Guard Tuition Waiver: If they are members of the Army or Air Guard in Arkansas.
